The Ghana Health Service has said Hypertension ranked high among chronic diseases which were found in the 18 people who died of COVID -19 in Ghana.
Other diseases that were found among those who died include Asthma, Diabetes, Stroke, Heart Condition, and others.
Addressing the media in Accra, Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye said 76% of the deaths recorded in Ghana were male and 23% were female.
He added that 11 of the death cases were above 60 years, four were between 40 to 59 years, two were between 25 to 39 years and one was less than 15 years.
Ghana’s Covid-19 case count has increased to over 3000 as the country records an additional 372 new cases.
The case count now stands at 3,091 as of May 7.
This was contained in the latest update on the Ghana Health Service (GHS) website for the case management of Covid-19.
According to the GHS, a total of 137,924 tests have been conducted so far.
The number of recoveries the GHS said has also increased by 9 bringing the tally to 303.
