The Third National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Masawudu, has strongly condemned Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng for describing the party as “fake,” describing the comment as unacceptable and disrespectful to the party’s leadership and members.
Speaking in an interview, Alhaji Masawudu said the NPP has previously taken disciplinary action against members who made negative public comments about the party. He cited the case of Yahoyaho Tamaklu, who was suspended for making several comments against the NPP, although he never described the party as fake.
According to the chairman, Professor Frimpong-Boateng went beyond acceptable limits by openly accusing the NPP of corruption. He stated that elders must speak responsibly, adding that if elders fail to set a good example, the younger generation will challenge them.
Alhaji Masawudu further alleged that Professor Frimpong-Boateng’s recent comments are being influenced by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). He questioned why the NDC has remained silent on allegations surrounding missing excavators during Frimpong-Boateng’s tenure, while at the same time the NDC has supported the arrest of Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi) over alleged illegal mining activities.
He described the situation as unfair, arguing that Professor Frimpong-Boateng has not been invited for questioning despite the unresolved excavator issue. He also claimed that corruption during Frimpong-Boateng’s time in office contributed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo removing him from his ministerial position.
Alhaji Masawudu criticized the NDC for what he called hypocrisy and incompetence, accusing the party of deliberately keeping quiet on the excavator matter.
He concluded by warning that any member of the NPP, regardless of rank or position, who publicly labels the party as fake will face suspension in accordance with party rules
