The Acting Deputy Director of Elections and ICT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Gibril, has stated that the election of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 general elections symbolizes a vote of no confidence in his leadership.
According to him, if Dr. Bawumia had enjoyed strong support among party delegates, he would have secured at least 75 percent of the votes during the recent NPP presidential primaries, considering the increased number of delegates.
Speaking in an interview with Kwamina Sam Biney on the Bryt Adekyee Musem Morning Show, Mahdi Gibril argued that the outcome of the primaries showed that delegates were not fully convinced by Dr. Bawumia’s leadership. He therefore urged Ghanaians not to waste their votes in the upcoming general elections.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia won the NPP presidential primaries with 110,643 votes, representing 56.48 percent
