Titus Glover, a former Member of Parliament for Tema East, has lashed out at the ruling National Democratic Congress government following the arrest of NPP social activist Nana Addo Nyame on Wednesday.
On Thursday, national executives of the opposition NPP stormed the Greater Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service, demanding his release.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) summoned Nana Addo Nyame in response to allegations that he made disrespectful remarks about Akyem Asuom’s Krontihene, Nana Boadi Amponim Obo-Dade III.
Under the leadership of Justin Frimpong Kodua, the party’s general secretary, the NPP supporter was freed on Thursday night.
However, in an interview with Martin Asiedu-Dartey, host of “Hot Edition” on 3fm 92.7, the former Tema East MP claimed that the NDC’s rule was making it too common to arrest and detain NPP members.
He asserts that the NPP members will not remain silent in order to scare them.
“I want to tell the IGP and I have known him for the past years he shouldn’t allow politics to soil his office but what my party is doing is right. We’ll do any manner of thing to protect the sanctity of the constitution. The spirit of the NPP can never be thrown away. I am standing for National Organiser. I can assure President Mahama that, he’s not going to get it easy because we’ll not sit down for them to maltreat our people; for them to do anything at all they like so he should be very careful”.
“If you want to arrest, arrest everybody. We do you take side? “He quarried.
“President Mahama should focus on the mess that they have created. Look at cocoa farmers they are suffering. You said you will create jobs for the youth; you brought 24hrs economy you couldn’t fix it and instead of you to focus on the problems you are arresting NPP people and you want us to laugh? That’s not going to happen” he stressed.
