The New Juaben South Municipality (Koforidua, Eastern Regional Capital) has recorded the first two (2) confirmed cases of coronavirus.
It is not clear the specific communities these cases came from. Contact tracing is currently underway.
Meanwhile, Birim North District also recorded its first confirmed case same day.
The new cases have increased the Eastern regional tally to 117.
The new cases bring to 11 the number of districts that have recorded COVID-19 in the Region.
Lower Manya Krobo has recorded 70 cases, Asuogyaman (12), Denkyembuor (12), Akuapem North (8), Fanteakwa North (6), and Birim Central (2), Kwahu West (2), Suhum (1) and West Akim(1). The Regional Health Directorate has clarified that, one of the cases in Kwahu West was recorded in Kumasi hence the case count in Kwahu West is still 2.
Eighty-six (86) of cases representing about 75% of the total case count has recovered in the region.
Two more health workers have tested positive increasing the number of health workers tested positive to 15 out of which one is in critical condition hence referred to the University of Ghana Medical Hospital in Accra.
