Construction work on the Bolgatanga Sports Stadium is expected to begin before the end of 2026, following discussions between Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Akamugri Donatus Atanga, and the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams.
The two ministers met to discuss plans for the redevelopment of the existing Bolgatanga Sports Stadium into a modern multi-purpose sports facility.
As part of preparations for the project, an inspection team is expected to visit the Upper East Region in the first week of October 2026 to assess the existing stadium site and advance the project.
The planned facility will include a main football pitch and a separate training pitch, basketball and volleyball courts, athletics tracks, a swimming pool, high-jump and long-jump facilities, as well as conference rooms and facilities for boxing and other indoor games.
The Regional Minister expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, for their commitment towards improving sports infrastructure in the Upper East Region.
