The Chief Executive Officer of Joy Industries, Dr. Manfred Takyi, has described the establishment of the China-Afri Mall in Koforidua in the Eastern Region as a significant transformation of commercial space into an avenue for employment, entrepreneurship and community development.
Dr. Takyi said Joy Industries made its commercial space available to facilitate the establishment of the facility, explaining that the decision was driven by a broader vision of creating opportunities for businesses and individuals within the region.

He said commercial space should not be viewed simply as a physical asset, but rather as a resource that can be transformed into an opportunity to generate economic value and improve livelihoods.
According to Dr. Takyi, when the proposal to establish the China-Afri Mall was presented to the company, management looked beyond the immediate business aspect of the project.
He explained that Joy Industries saw the proposal as an opportunity to turn an available space into a platform where businesses could operate, entrepreneurs could develop their ventures, and residents could benefit from new employment opportunities.
«“From space to opportunity, a commercial space is only an asset until it is transformed into an opportunity,” Dr. Takyi said.»
He noted that the concept was therefore embraced with the expectation that the facility would contribute to economic activity in Koforidua and provide a platform for businesses to connect with customers and expand their operations.

Dr. Takyi said the opening of the China-Afri Mall represents the realisation of the vision that inspired the partnership, adding that what was initially an idea has now been transformed into a physical facility capable of creating opportunities for people in the area.
He further emphasised the importance of supporting entrepreneurship and creating an environment where businesses, particularly emerging enterprises, can access commercial opportunities and contribute to local economic growth.
According to him, the development goes beyond the establishment of another commercial facility, as it forms part of a broader effort to create a space where commerce, employment and community development can come together.
The CEO expressed confidence that the China-Afri Mall would become an important commercial hub in Koforidua, providing opportunities for businesses while contributing to the socio-economic development of the Eastern Region.

He said Joy Industries was pleased to have played a role in making the project possible and expressed hope that the facility would continue to create meaningful opportunities for businesses, entrepreneurs and residents in the years ahead.
