A medical team deployed by the Ghana Health Service to the Koforidua Central Police after the death of the Station Officer who died from coronavirus has taken samples of 244 contacts.
They include Police personnel, inmates at Cells as well as families of Police officers at the Central Police station and barracks as well as a Journalist friend to the decease.
The samples were taken on Sunday, May 31, 2020.
55-year-old Chief Inspector who was the Station Officer in Charge of the Central Police Station in Koforidua died Friday, May 29, 2020, after a short illness.
He died while on admission at the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua for few days having visited the Police Clinic in Koforidua and Newland Hospital- a private Hospital before his death.
The cause of death was not immediately known until sample results released after his death reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Samples of health workers at the Police Clinic and Newland Hospital have also been taken by the Medical team while the affected staff quarantined.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases in Ghana have now moved to 7,881 after 113 more cases were recorded in less than 24-hours, according to latest figures released by the Ghana Health Service on Sunday.
One more person has also died from the virus taking the death toll to 36.
Meanwhile, 301 people who were infected with the virus have also recovered taking the total number of recoveries to 2,841.
Ahafo region now remains the only region out of the 16 regions yet to record a COVID-19 case.
