The Eastern Regional Minister Eric Kwakye Darfuor failed to report to work on Monday after shocking defeat in the just ended Parliamentary Primaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP).
A former Constituency Organizer also a teacher at Nkawkaw Secondary School Joseph Frimpong kicked out the Regional Minister who is the incumbent Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw Constituency and the other three strong Candidates.
Joseph Frimpong had-206, Eric Kwakye Daffour -159, Seth Adjei Baah -156, Joyce Opoku Boateng -82, David Asante -73 and Kwabena Adusa -28
Few hours after the declaration, the Eastern Regional Minister went on his Facebook timeline to accept defeat and pledge his unwavering support “With much gratitude, I want to thank everybody for their enormous support over the years of my tenure as Parliamentary Candidate for this cherished Constituency”.
Delegates, who are ultimately the mouthpiece of the people, have spoken earlier today. I accept their choice and want to say a big thank you to everyone who took time off to help this process.
Warm congratulations to Mr. Joseph Frimpong, the newly elected Parliamentary Candidate for the NPP in the constituency. I wish you the very best in this endeavor. To the other candidates, I say well done as well. You put in a heartfelt effort. Moving on as a united party, we have to come together as one to support our newly elected candidate to hoist the flag of NPP, and Ghana high. I pledge my support to Mr. Joseph Frimpong and will support as much as I can with his endeavors”.
Checks from the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council reveals the Minister failed to report to work on Monday.
It is however not clear if the Minister took some days off to go on leave.
But some analysts believe he may need some time to rest and recover from the shocks of the election to enable him to get a healthy mind to resume his official duties.
