Eric Amankwa Blay, the Aspirant in just ended Parliamentary Primaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party in Assin North Constituency of the Central Region seems to have shot himself in the foot for seizing bicycles he gifted to delegates after he was defeated.
Eric Amankwa Blay reportedly shared two-hundred and fifty(250) bicycles to delegates before the election in the constituency ostensibly to buy votes but was heavily defeated by the incumbent Member of Parliament Abena Duruwa Mensah who garnered 389 votes as against 44 votes secured by Mr. Blay.
Shocked and disappointed by the outcome of the election, Mr.Eric Amankwa Blay together with his henchmen went round homes of delegates in Kia Truck to retrieve all the bicycles from the beneficiary delegates.
However, Speaking on Accra based Atinka FM Monday, the General Secretary of the NPP John Boadu described the action of the aspirant as “uncouth” which the party will not tolerate hence ordered him to return the bicycles immediately or risk losing his membership from the party.
“He should return the bicycles else he has dismissed himself from the party. I am speaking on authority. The party will not recognize him anymore. He is done with the party. We can’t encourage such uncouth behavior in our party.” John Boadu warned.
The just ended Parliamentary Primaries of the NPP has been criticized over widespread vote-buying.
In New Juaben South for instance Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah reportedly paid $1000 to more than half of the 582 Delegates while his contender – the CEO of Free Zones Authority Michael Okyere Baafi who won the election paid Ghc4000 to each delegate with additional mouth-watering promises.
