Road contractors in Ghana have been warned to desist from engaging in shoddy works or will have their contracts terminated.
Roads and Highways Minister, Kwasi Amoako Atta, at a press conference in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua on Sunday 28th June 2020 at the Regional Coordinating Council conference room.
The media encounter which was part of a two-day tour to access road projects was to give in-depth insight on road projects been undertaken in the region by President Akufo-Addo and the NPP government.
Mr. Amoako Atta in his speech challenged road contractors to due diligent to work given them or risk losing their contracts.
“Road construction is not a child play so I am advising anyone who intends to tender in the application, to ensure they are financially sound with good experience because I as the sector minister would not condone any shoddy work by any contractor. As we went around, you can attest to the fact that almost all the contractors are doing a great job, so we will not allow few bad nuts to tarnish the image of hardworking ones” the minister told the media.
The Atiwa West Member of Parliament, however, assured residents of the region that most of the bad roads have already been given to contract with others going through various stages of engagements.
