The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association has named Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold to represent Ghana in next season’s CAF’ inter-club competitions following the cancellation of the 2019/2020 football season amid coronavirus pandemic.
The outbreak of the deadly virus brought football in the world to a halt with Ghana no exception, however, the Ghana FA on Tuesday, June 30 announced that they have truncated the season after 7 hours meeting at the Secretariat.
With no promotion and demotion, Asante Kotoko and Ashgold who represented the country in the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup will represent the country again next season.
“The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has decided to cancel the 2019/2020 football season following a marathon meeting on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at the GFA Secretariat in Accra. Details soon,” a GFA statement said today.
In an interview, Communications Director for the Ghana FA, Henry Asante Twum has shared that due to the inability to complete the season, the body will present Asante Kotoko and Ashgold to represent the country in the CAF Champions League and the Confederations Cup respectively.
The two Ghana Premier League clubs represented the West African country in Africa last season after winning the tier 1 and tier 2 of the Normalization Committee Special Competition.
