Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has said because this year is an election year, there is a lot of politics in the atmosphere and alleged that *People are deliberately seeking to contort the analysis of COVID data.
He noted that some opposition leaders are seeking to claim that the COVID-19 response is a failure, adding, “But the devil is in the details. If you look at the detail of the numbers that are coming out, you can clearly tell the successes that are coming out.”
Addressing the media on Sunday, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah said although the country had recorded significant strides in the fight against COVID-19, it is imperative for Ghanaians to continually abide by the safety protocols to curtail the spread of the virus.
Last week, the flagbearer of the opposition NDC, John Dramani Mahama, and National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi accused Akufo-Addo led administration for failing the fight against the spread against Novel COVID -19 despite Resources from state and private organizations.
Six hundred and seven (607) new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Ghana on 19th July 2020.
This has pushed Ghana’s total case count to 27,667.
The new cases which were recorded on July 16, 2020, came from samples that were taken between June 22 to 15 July 2020.
Three more deaths have also been recorded, raising the death toll to 148.
Active cases currently stand at 4,270.
