Four (4) suspects have been arrested by the Kasoa Divisional Police Command over the violence which occurred at Step to Christ Voters registration center in Awutu Senya East Constituency of the Central region.
The Suspects have been transferred to the Regional Police Headquarters in Cape Coast for investigations.
Police have also retrieved a gun from the gang.
Kasoa Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Charles Ampem Koosonu revealed his outfit acted immediately the incident occurred, and upon a Swift patrol in and around Kasoa environs arrested the Suspects who were escaping in a pickup.
“We have arrested four persons. We got information about the incident so we patrolled the town and met four men in a pickup vehicle which we arrested them to assist in the investigation. we retrieved one gun. We are transferring them to Cape Coast due to the tension in the Kasoa”
There was a violent attack at Step to Christ Voters registration center Monday.
Gunshots were fired while three motorbikes belonging to members of the opposition National Democratic Congress were burnt down by persons believed to be members of the ruling NPP who are henchmen of Hawa Koomson the incumbent Member of Parliament.
The chaos brought the registration exercise to a halt.
Some eyewitnesses told Bryt FM Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah that four gunshots were fired and three motorbikes burnt while occupants assaulted.
Meanwhile, NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Naa Koryor Okunor said this is the 12th times NPP hoodlums have attacked members of the NDC in the ongoing registration exercise in the Constituency while Police looks on unconcerned.
