Municipal Chief Executive for West Mamprusi in the North East Region Hon. Aremeyaw Somo Lucky has lambasted the General Secretary of the biggest opposition party National Democratic Congress (NDC) as โpsychologically incapacitatedโ for saying the Vice President for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would never be able to lead the NPP.
This reaction from Mr. Lucky comes after the Asiedu Nketia reportedly advised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to give up hopes of ever becoming the flagbearer of NPP and consequently becoming a president.
Addressing in a press conference in Tamale, the General Secretary of the NDC said the Vice President does not stand a chance of winning the NPP presidential slot because he comes from a region with limited influence in NPP.
According to the MCE, Asiedu Nketia needs to see a psychiatrist for making such a comment about the Vice President.
โThe General Secretary of the NDC may be psychologically incapacitated for comments like thatโ, the MCE blasted.
He explained that Dr. Bawumiaโs influence in the party is well known and has had a lot of impacts on the citizens.
โYou have a northern region where NPP has only one, sometime, three seats, now they have more than 13 or 15 seats and you are still not learning from that, and you come to say Bawumia doesnโt have the support baseโ, he said.
โIf you look at the impact of Bawumia in Ghanaโs political history you canโt underrate it. Look at the Zongos; the Zongos that used to be the stronghold of the NDC, they are no more there.
They are diminishing. Has the NDC gone to win Yendi or Bimbilla? The mathematics does not add upโ.
According to him, Dr. Bawumia is busily working to secure a second term for the President and will not be distracted by the NDC.
โWhat Bawumia is concentrating now is that he wants to win the election for His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, to fulfill the trust that Akuffo-Addo had in him and nominated him four times successfully. So, this premature ejaculation should stopโ, he argued.
