Residents of Obom-Domeabra Constituency are fleeing from the area as armed Military personnel has invaded and siege many communities in the Constituency following a brutal assault on two men believe to be Military officers over a parcel of land.
The two wounded military men are receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital, whiles two civilians shot by the Military also receiving treatment.
On Tuesday, angry residents clashed with the military over a land dispute at Dome Faase in the Obom – Domeabra Constituency of the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
According to the residents, the Military men were deployed to the area to protect a parcel of land by Nana Baffour Sarpong Okumankuma, Mponuahene of Akyem Apedwa.
On Tuesday the resident demonstrates against the deployment of the military to disposes them from their lands an action that turned chaotic and bloody.
Five (5) vehicles, a Power Generator, Motorbike, and several others belonging to the Mponuahene were burnt to ashes by the rampaging youth.
Subsequently, Bryt FM News Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah reports that ” the whole Constituency has been taken over by heavy military personnel leaving no soul in these Communities”
Divisional Chief of the Obom Community, Nii Kpakpo Amaatey II who earlier addressed the press condemned the actions of the Youth adding that the demonstration was meant to be peaceful.
Meanwhile, the Assembly member for Paanor Electoral Area, Vincent Sogah called on the government to intervene to find a lasting solution to the problem to restore peace in the area.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ga South Municipality, Hon Joseph Nyarni has also condemned the violent act by the youth but assured that District Security Council will ensure law and order are restored immediately.
