The Ghana Immigration Service in Berekum has arrested 17 nationals from Niger who entered Ghana illegally.
Immigration Officer Inspector Foster Frimpong said the illegal immigrants were arrested upon a tip-off from Ghana Private Road Transport Union(GPRTU) that they have entered Ghana through an unapproved route by land around Jaman South to Brekum Area.
He advised drivers that, both land borders remain closed therefore should desist from aiding immigrants to illegally enter the country.
He admonished drivers in the area to report suspected illegal immigrants for swift action to help keep the country safe.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the GPRTU in Berekum, Salomey Adjei Boakye said, they are investigating to identify the driver who abetted the suspect to enter the Municipality for sanctions.
