The Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin has waded into the actions of Western Togoland secessionist groups indicating Ghana is one and that, the country would not support any break away.
According to the President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, Ghana has remained as a united nation since time immemorial and would not succumb to pressure from some few individuals advocating to break away from Ghana.
He added that, Ghana cannot allow such separatists to dent the good image of being a peaceful nation across Africa with their parochial interests.
Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, speaking at a visit by President Akufo-Addo to the House on Thursday however, commended Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo-Addo for his extra ordinary leadership shown during the peak era of the coronavirus outbreak making him been recognised as the best leader to deal with the pandemic in Africa and the world at large.
He described the President as an epitome of wisdom and intelligence which has been demonstrated in curbing the spread of the deadly virus.
On education, the Okyenhene appreciated the bold decision of the Akufo-Addo led government to implement the Free SIS education policy which has given many children easy access to continue their education.
He noted that, most parents’ burden have been lessened due to the government willingness to absorb all fees under the policy, a situation the traditional leader describe as a timely educational intervention.
He took the opportunity to advocate for decentralisation of Ghana’s educational system to ensure all stakeholders, including parents are added into managing schools locally.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo on his part pledged support to chieftaincy administration in ensuring it continue to contribute it’s quota to the development of the country.
He revealed allowances to chiefs has been increased since his assumption into office in 2017 and pledged to do more in his next government.
President Akufo-Addo retreated an allocation has been made to construct a National Chieftaincy Secretariat in Accra to serve as the Headquaters for chiefs across the country.
