The Presidential Candidate of the Opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, John Dramani Mahama, has expressed shock over the killing of the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency Ekow Quansah Hayford.
The lawmaker was killed Friday dawn by suspected armed robbers while returning from a campaign tour with 8 others at 1:00am.
John Dramani Mahama described the incident as a despicable act in which the culprits must be arrested for Prosecution.
“I have received the shocking news of the death of Hon. Ekow Quansah Hayford, MP for Mfantseman in a reported armed robbery attack. My condolence to his family. This is a most despicable act, and we all look forward to the security agencies investigating and arresting those involved and bringing them speedily to justice” John Mahama said in a statement posted last night on his Facebook page.
He continued that “there is a growing climate of insecurity in Ghana. Dastardly armed robberies and violent crime have become a common occurrence. I urge the government and the security agencies to do more to protect the Ghanaian people. It’s probably also time to look at the provision of armed police guards for our MPs”
“Our hearts go out at this time to the spouse and family of the late MP”.
The Inspector-General of Police, on Friday, dispatched specialized investigators from CID Headquarters to support the Central region’s Crime Scene Team to investigate the killing of the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency Hon. Ekow Quansah.
Meanwhile, the Central Regional Police Command has taken over the investigation from the local. The Central Regional Police Commander and the Regional Crime officer has led an entourage to the scene of the crime for a fact-finding mission
The Inspector-General of Police James Oppong-Boanuh has also placed a GHC20,000 bounty on the killers of Mfantseman Member of Parliament Ekow Quansah on Friday dawn.
