People with disabilities have been advised to make good use of the government’s intervention to do away with depending on others for their living.
New Juaben North Municipal Director of Social Welfare, Madam Sally Mahama at a presentation of cheques to about 51 persons with disabilities in Effiduase, in the Eastern region on Tuesday challenged beneficiaries to ensure the amount is put into good use to be self-dependents.
She indicated that the NPP led government has over the past years obliged to the constitutional market of allocating 3% of the District Assemblies Common Fund to the disabled, therefore, improving the standard of living of beneficiaries.
She, therefore, warned beneficiaries against using the money for their day to day activities but rather invest it well to get the results for its existence.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Madam Comfort Asante, on her part encouraged beneficiaries to make good use of the support by making sure it is invested in the earlier intended purpose submitted to authorities upon which the presentation is made.
She retreated the government’s commitment to the well-being of the disabled and therefore urged beneficiaries to adhere to advice and directions from authorities to ensure they have successful business investments.
Meanwhile, some beneficiaries who could not hide their joy commended the government and authorities for their support and pledged to put the money into good use.
Each beneficiary received an amount of Ghc1,500.00.
