Communications Officer of Legon Cities Kwame Dwomoh Agyemang has thrown light on the signing of Ghana’s all-time top scorer Asamoah Gyan on transfer deadline day.
Gyan who has been without a club since leaving Indian Super League side NorthEast United in January joined the Accra based club ahead of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.
The moneybags beat off fierce competition from Kumasi Asante Kotoko to secure the signing of the former Sunderland star.
According to reports in the local media, the former Ghana captain signed a one year contract with Legon Cities that will fetch him more about $250,000.
But according to the PRO, his outfit signed a performance-based contract with the highly-rated striker and has asked the public to treat the figures out there with the needed contempt it deserves.
Speaking to Accra based Vision 1 FM, he said, “Gyan will play for us this season and if things go on well there is the possibility that he will stay with us for another season. Gyan’s contract is structured, we have seen a lot of things in the media but that isn’t the case”
“We can’t disclose the amount he is going to take even the Europeans do not do that. What we normally hear are speculations from the media. There is no club that will disclose the salary of a player because it is confidential”
“What I can say is that, he signed a performance based contract” he said.
