The Berekum Municipal Election Security Task Force on Wednesday, October 4, 2020, held stakeholders engagement in Berekum to deliberate on a roadmap to ensure peaceful election come December 7, 2020.
Speaking at the meeting attended by the police representatives of political parties, pastors, media, NCCE among others, the chairman of the task force who also double as the Divisional Police Commander DCOP Ebenezer Ampofo explained that, the Berekum police Command is well prepared for the task ahead.
According to him, the task force has mobilized all necessary resources needed to provide enough security before, during, and after the election.
The Chairman of the Berekum local council of churches, Rev. Kwaku Twum Berima on his part said, Berekum is a peaceful town, therefore, disputed the fact that it has been classified as a flashpoint area.
He is hopeful that the election will be as peaceful as always.
The NPP Parliamentary candidate of Berekum East, Nelson Kyeremeh reiterated the commitment of the party to a peaceful election.
The representative of the opposition NDC however could not make it to the meeting.
