Former beneficiaries of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in the Eastern Region are demanding payment of their exit package.
The aggrieved former beneficiaries chiefly Community Police Assistants who have transitioned from the program say they will vote against the ruling New Patriotic Party government if their exit package is not paid to them.
“We will vote against the NPP Government lead by H.E Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo if our exit Fund isn’t given us ., if the Management of Youth Employment Agency (YEA) lead Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong refuses to pay our money within this month as promised we will expose them”
The YEA deducts from the monthly allowance of beneficiaries, GHS45 plus GHS5 insurance to be paid in a lump sum to the beneficiaries as an exit package at the end of the program.
However, the former beneficiaries in the Eastern Region say only 10% have received their package since exiting the program in 2019.
“The money is ours; it doesn’t belong to the management as they have paid about 10% of the beneficiaries. Management told us they will pay us GHc 350.00 and GHc 5 will be deducted as Insurance Premium against Personal accident, injury, and risk associated to their engagement, then again deduct GHc 45.00 into the beneficiary exit Fund at the end of our engagement”
They further explained that “the first batch contract expired December 2019, followed y the second batch on January 2020 to August 2020 where the fifth batch too Contract has expired but they haven’t received their money as Promised by the Management”.
According to the former beneficiaries, “YEA owed most of the former beneficiaries in some months allowance as well which is in arrears. So we are pleading to the President His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to come to our aid by paying us to so we have peace of mind in our various homes, schools and also take care of our families”
