The Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma West Constituency and Ghana’s Minister for Communications, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful have engaged her constituents in Shiabu on a newly constructed ‘floating’ footbridge at Shiabu Chemuenaa near the ‘Wallace Park’, which lies on the Chemu River, and also on other matters of concern to the community.
Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful was joined by the Honourable Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong – Boateng who is the chief architect of the ‘floating bridge’ project.
The Honourable Municipal Chief Executive of the Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly, Mr. George Cyril Bray, the CEO of the Coastal Development, Mr. Jerry Ahmed Shaib and many other dignitaries were at the program.
Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful in her address thanked Prof. Kwabena Frimpong – Boateng for his effort in the construction of the temporary footbridge for the Chemuenaa people. She assured the people that a permanent bridge will be constructed in due course.
She also announced, amid cheers from the gathering that, asphalt works which had began in the Dansoman Estates will be touching the roads in Shiabu very soon.
The CEO of the Coastal Development Authority also outlined a series of programs the authority in collaboration with the Member of Parliament will be rolling out for fisherfolk in the community. He mentioned that the Authority will be distributing outboard motors and other fishing gadgets to the fisherfolk at reduced prices and also the ‘ahotor’ micro-credit scheme which will provide cash to fisherfolks for their businesses.
