A gang of four armed robbers believed to be Fulani herdsmen has shot a mobile money vendor and seven others at Asesewa in the Upper Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region.
The armed robbers stormed the mobile money vendor shop near Asesewa Senior High School around 8:00 pm and opened fire sporadically.
The mobile money vendor, Stephen Tetteh, 36, was shot together with seven others. The other victims are Akabuatse Victor, 59, Kofi Esther, 22, Ebenezer Kwao, 22, Faustina Annani, 29, Gifty Akaboatse, 14, Tetteh Belinda, 18, and Judith Degbor said to be in critical condition.
The suspects bolted away with the unspecified amount of money before the arrival of the police.
The victims were rushed to the Asesewa Hospital which is a closed scene currently receiving treatment.
The Police Patrol team arrived shortly after the robbers escaped.
Six empty BB cartridges were retrieved at the crime scene.
According to the acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Sargeant Francis Gomado, efforts are underway to arrest the suspects.
The incident has created fear and panic in the Asesewa Township.
The Asesewa is known for robbery attacks.
