A 35-year-old farmer and hunter who gunned down his wife at Akyem Nkroso-Abessim in the Eastern Region have been arrested by Police.
Samuel Gyekye was arrested at about 10: 30am Tuesday by some youth in the community and handed him over to the Police.
According to the Police, the Suspect was brought in unconscious with a deep cut on his head alleged to be a suicide attempt caused by hitting his head with a hammer.
He was rushed to Apedwa health center where he was receiving treatment under police guard.
The suspect shot dead his 42-year-old wife Monday night January 4, 2021.
The body of the deceased, 42-year-old Abena Owusua, has been retrieved and deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital morgue.
According to the acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command Sargeant Francis Gomado, Police received information that the suspect has shot dead his wife and gone into hiding.
Police proceeded to the scene and found the body of the deceased lying in a prone position in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound at the back in a wooden housing structure.
He said a locally manufactured single barrel gun loaded with one BB” empty cartridge shell was found to have been abandoned at the scene which was retrieved for evidential purpose.
