The Member of Parliament for Gushegu in the Northern Region and Ejisu Juaben in the Ashanti Region, Honourable Hassan Tampuli and Honourable John Ampontuah Kumah has been appointed by the New Patriotic Party Caucus in Parliament to be members of Parliament Appointment Committee.
The two are fresh faces in the 8th Parliament in the Fourth Republic.
Both the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have pulled equal slots on the Appointment and Business Committees of Parliament.
Each has 13 members on the Appointment Committee and 10 members on the Business Committee.
Honourable John Kumah until joining Parliament was the Chief Executive officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) and he pulled 68,326 votes to become MP, representing 82.83% against George Kwame Huze of the NDC, 14,164 (17.17%).
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Hassan Tampuli annexed the Gushegu parliamentary seat in the Northern Region for the New Patriotic Party.
Mr. Tampuli polled a total vote of 30,401 against 28,055 votes by Mohammed Yussif Malimali of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Out of the 58,706 total valid votes cast, 1,789 votes were rejected.
Hassan Tampuli will be taking over from the NDC’s Kwesi Thomas Nissan who occupied the seat in 2016.
