Nananom Of Effutuakwa Traditional Council in Assin Fosu in the Central Region has caused the arrest of a sub-Chief – Nana Awuku Agyemang II, Krontihene for the area, Reverend Pastor Peter Ahetor of Christ Apostolic Church International, Batsona, Accra branch, and other mourners for defying COVID-19 safety orders by organizing a One Week funeral observation attended by dozens of mourners contrary to Nana Addo’s COVID-19 directive.
The chiefs informed Police about the blatant disregard of the Covid-19 directives by the bereaved family and ordered for their arrest.
The Abakomahene of Effutuakwa Traditional Area, Nana Kutin Amoah III, told Bryt FM news Central Regional Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah that, the bereaved family was recklessly endangering the lives of sympathizers at the one-week observation hence ordered for their arrest
“Reason why we informed the police to arrest them comply with the President ordered that only 25 people be allowed for a private burial that funerals are banned. Nana Afranse IV, therefore, sent memory to find out if indeed the mourners at the one-week observation were above 25 and indeed it was confirmed. We Nananom here are ensuring that we help the government enforce the law to help curb the spread of the disease”. He explained.
Nana Kutin Amoah reiterated that the coronavirus pandemic is ravaging “with no respecter of persons, and has claimed the lives, Kings, and Queens, across the globe, therefore, Nananom will not tolerate non-adherence preventive protocols such as social distancing and the wearing of nose mask”.
Assin Fosu Divisional Police Commander, ACP Augustine Luguyare stated that his outfit is on a mission to clamp down on persons who flout the safety protocols and directives of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, Reverend Peter Ahetor of Christ Apostolic Church International, Batsona Spintex Road Accra branch, and Nana Awuku Agyemang, Krontihene who were among the suspects claimed they were not more than 25 members.
