Three vehicles have been involved in a near fatal accident on the Accra to Kumasi Highway.
The multiple vehicular accident occured at Akyem Aboabo to Anyinasin stretch of the highway in the Eastern region.
The accident was caused by a long trailer truck which had been broken down in the middle of the road as a result of a mechanical fault.
An eyewitness, George Ansah said, “the long vehicle from Burkina got broken down in the middle of the road at Aboabo yesterday, 14th March 2021 at 11:40 pm. So this morning at about 7:00 am, the three vehicles crashed into it. The vehicles included two Kia Rhino trucks – one transporting animals feed from Kumasi while the other was carrying charcoal. Also, an Opel Astra also heading to Kumasi with a couple onboard all crashed into the damaged truck.”
The six persons who sustained injuries were rushed to Osiem Hawa Memorial Saviour Hospital.
Efforts were underway to tow the stationery truck from the middle of the road to curb further accidents .
