The 3rd National Vice Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Michael Omari Wadie says Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mavis Hawa Koomson has the potentials of becoming the best-performed minister after her four-year tenure.
Omari Wadie stated that despite the media uproar following her vetting the Awutu East Constituency lawmaker will probably become the biblical rejected stone.
“It wouldn’t be a surprise if Hawa Koomson ends up becoming the best-performed minister. The Bible says the rejected stone shall become the cornerstone. Just because you believe she lacks proficiency in the use of the English language, one is superior to you are, he’s handsome than you or the person is taller than you, is an MP you wanted to unseat him or her,” Omari Wadie told Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Wednesday, March 17,
His comments were in response to anger in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the minority caucus voting to approve some ministerial nominees including Hawa Koomson the opposition party describes as incompetence.
On February 18, 2021, the Minister-designate for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson took her turn before the Appointments Committee of Parliament to be vetted.
Following the exercise, the media space was awash with commentary on her lack of understanding of basic issues about the sector, and also lack of proficiency in the use of the English language, which they say alludes she’s incompetence.
