The Police in Western Region has gunned down a suspected armed robber believed to be part of the broad daylight robbery that led to the killing of a man who was with his wife at Amanful on Monday.
The robber now deceased, identified as Shankiki, 30, together with two other accomplices who managed to escape after police engaged the robbers in a shootout at Elmina on the Cape Coast highway during a special operation.
The two armed robbers escaped on a motorbike with registration number M-20 GW 6060 but covered the last number zero(0) to read M-20 GW 606.
A search conducted at the hideout of the suspects led to retrieve one live AK47 ammunition, one spent AK47 ammunition, a live tortoise and a talisman.
The operation was led by Chief Superintendent Ebenezer Boryor, Western Regional Crime Officer, ASP Saviour Ahiamadi – Divisional Crime Officer and Deaupol Oti Prempeh, In-charge of CID operation from Greater Accra.
