Mr Matin Esson Benjamin, the Chief Executive Officer for Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), has said latest by August 2021, Kasoa BSP which is 435 MVA will be added to Nation Electricity Grid.
The project, which is about 50 per cent complete, is expected to improve power supply to Winneba, Mallam and parts the Greater Accra and Central regions.
It is being implemented by the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), under the Ghana Power Compact Two and falls under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), which the US government provided US$308 million to the government of Ghana, to improve its energy needs and curb power transmission losses.
Mr Matin Esson Benjamin, told Minister of Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Permpeh,who visited the site that a Static Synchronous Compensator Transformer (STATCOM), rated at 66 MVA, also procured for the BSP Project, was delivered to the Project Site on February 10, 2021.
The 435MVA Kasoa BSP Project will be the second largest in the country, after the 580 MVA Pokuase BSP, currently under construction. Both Projects, are part of the major infrastructural investments envisaged under the ECG Financial and Operational Turnaround (EFOT) Project. The EFOT Project seeks to make investments in ECG’s network in order to reduce technical, commercial, and collection losses and improve service quality.
