Sakora-Wonoo Traditional Council in Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region has threatened to boycott the funeral of the late CEO of Forestry Commission Kojo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John if the deplorable road to the community is not fixed by government.
Speaking to the media, the Queen mother for the town, Nana Ama Nyarko, said the road is in a deplorable condition but all efforts made to get it constructed and tarred have been unsuccessful.
She said, the community was expecting government to fix the road before the burial of the late Sir John but nothing has been done on the road.
She said, the traditional council may be forced to boycott the funeral on May 27, 2021 if the situation remains same.
“We are saying that we don’t want to see the President Akufo-Addo, Vice president Dr. Bawumia, M.P for the area, Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah, MCE for the area, Nana Osei Asibe Bonsu and National, Regional and Constituency executives of the NPP at the final funeral rites of the late, Mr. Kojo Owusu Afriyie (Sir. John) if our road is not fixed ” the Queenmother said.
Nana Nyarko, lamented that many projects such as hospital, extension of pipe-borne water and a technical school projects initiated by the late Sir John have been abandoned by the government.
Meanwhile, the concerned youth of Wonoo have embarked on a protest calling on government to fix the road to the community.
