The Akwamu and Anum Traditional Councils have decried deplorable roads in the traditional areas.
The Paramount chiefs – Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III and Anum Adontenhene Nana Kwasi Agyani V respectfully lamented to the Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong that their roads are bad affecting tourism, agriculture and movement of goods and services.
Roads in Asuogyaman District are in very deplorable state causing anger among the populace in recent times .
The chiefs appealed to the Regional Minister to therefore facilitate rehabilitation and taring of their roads.
The Adontenhene of Anum who spoke on behalf of the Paramount Chief appealed to the Minister to ensure that the contractor working on Osiben – Anum road who abandoned site after the election returns to the road.
The Chief said this when the Eastern Regional Minister visited them at their respective traditional areas as part of courtesy calls on Chiefs in the region.
Responding to the deplorable road network in Asuogyaman District, the Eastern Regional Minister Seth Acheampong assured that President Akufo-Addo is very committed to improving the road network in the country that the deplorable roads in the area would also see a facelift in the year of roads vision.
The Minister appealed to the chiefs to cooporate with him to address mirage of challenges affecting the region.
Nana Afrakoma II, Akwamuhemaa requested the Eastern Regional Minister to help facilitate the Gazetting of the Paramount Chief of Akwamu, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III
She also appealed to the Minister to help revive Akosombo Textile Limited (ATL) into full operation to provide job opportunities to youth in the area.
Hon. Seth Acheampong was accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Lower Manya Krobo, Hon. Simon Tetteh, District Chief Executive for Upper Manya Krobo, Hon. Felix Odjao, Asuogyaman District Chief Executive, Hon. Kwame Agyekum, Hon. Jonathan Hagan, Presiding member for Asuogyaman District Assembly, Dr. Godfred Akyea Darkwa, New Patriotic Party Constituency Chairman at Asuogyaman.
