Names of 186 aspirants for positions of Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Eastern Region have been forwarded to President Akufo Addo after vetting.
All current MDCEs in the region are facing keen contest by at least four persons in their respective Municipal and District Assembly.
The President is expected to make a final determination by nominating one aspirant to each of the 33 Municipal and District Assemblies as municipal or District chief executive.
The Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong who was part of the committee that vetted the aspirants said “Within the last few days, I was mandated to chair, vet, and make recommendations regarding prospective Municipal and District Chief Executives to represent the president in the region. 186 aspirants from 33 district assemblies and municipal assemblies were vetted. 4 aspirants were selected for each assembly, from which the president will finally make his appointment”.
According to the Regional Minister, the vetting was successful.
The vetting committee is composed of Mr. Sammi Awuku – NPP National Organizer, Mr. Prince Aboagye – Deputy CEO of Petroleum Commission, and Mr. Richard Twum -Barimah Koranteng – 2nd Vice Chairman of the NPP(Eastern Region).
The committee was supported by Mr. Paa Kofi Ansong – Council of State member of the Eastern Region, Jeffery Konadu Addo, Regional Secretary, Kwame Appiah Kodua, Regional Organizer, Jerry Osei-Poku – Youth Organiser, Nana Yaw Papin – Assistant Secretary, Ben Kumi Larbi – Treasurer, Baba Fadilu Fafana – Nasara Coordinator, Francis Gyan – Deputy Organiser, Walter Hormenu, Deputy Youth Organiser, Monica Kessewaa – Deputy Women Organiser, Adamu Musah Raha, Deputy Nasara, Nana Yaa Ofori-Atta – Financial Secretary.
