The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong Boanuh has assured the family of the late General Police Constable Emmanuel Osei shot dead by armed robbers that, the police will go all out to arrest the perpetrators for prosecution.
Three armed men on two motorbikes on Monday, June 14, 2021, attacked and robbed a bullion Nissan van with registration number GT 8592 W with the inscription Mon-tran company.
The robbers shot the escort policeman on-board in the forehead at close range. James town district police command and men rushed to the crime scene and found the said van parked in the middle of Adedenko metal market road with three-door glasses shattered. The body of Constable Emmanuel Osei of the national swat was found in a pool of blood at the front seat. An adult female eyewitness who raised alarm was also gunned down by the robbers. They took away some monies from the bullion van and AK47 rifle which had the Police officer.
Consoling the family of the late police officer at Millennium city in Kasoa in the Central region, the IGP admonished the family and the Ghanaians to have confidence in the police, that, the perpetrators will at all cost be arrested and dealt with.
“I came here to console you and assure you that, the police will do everything possible to arrest the perpetrators. I call them cowards because it is only cowards who will kill a police officer on duty. I want the family and the entire country to have confidence in us that we will go all out to arrest the suspects for Prosecution.”
Sister to the deceased, Ruth Aboagyewaa who Spoke to Bryt FM News Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah said, the suspect’s foul play, therefore, demanding proper investigation and justice for her late brother.
The IGP was accompanied by top echelons of the Police service.
