Bekwai Circuit Court in Ashanti Region has convicted 35-year-old Karikari Okyere to 10 years imprisonment in hard labor for stealing.
The convict was sentenced on his plea of guilty to offenses of stealing, causing damage, and unlawful entry.
The Prosecutor Detective Sergeant Okyere told the court that on May 28, 2021, the complainant who is a shop owner at Anwia -Nkwanta reported to the police that some unknown thief has broken into his shop and stolen items worth Ghc20,000.
Police investigation led to the arrest of the convict who admitted the offense during his caution statement.
He was charged with the offense and put before the court where he pleaded guilty.
The Presiding Judge of Bekwai Circuit Court His Honour Mark Diboro sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment in hard labor to serve as a deterrent to those involved in increasing cases of burglary in the Municipality.
