The Police officer killed during a bullion van attack has been buried Saturday, July 24, 2021.
This was after a requiem Mass held at the Nyanyano Kakraba Park in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
Constable Emmanuel Osei was killed on June 14 this year by armed men on motorbikes at about 11 a.m. while on escort duties.
A woman who raised an alarm in the course robbery operation was also gunned down in her shop as she attempted to hide.
Family, friends, and loved ones of late General Constable Emmanuel Osei who clad in red and black attire gathered at the Gomoa Nyanyano – Kakraba School Park to bid farewell to their brother and friend.
Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery who was present as well as members of the Police Management Board led by Director of Welfare COP Maame Yaa Tiwa Addo-Danquah also mourned with the bereaved family.
Interior Minister Ambrose Dery while commensurating with the bereaved family of the late Police constable indicated that the Police Administration posthumously promoted General Constable Emmanuel Osei to the rank of a Lance Corporal position since he died on duty while serving the nation.
The Minister indicated the government’s commitment to enhancing the capacity of Police officers across the country while ensuring that banks follow due process in ensuring that police officers who go on escort duties are given the needed protection.
Member of Parliament for the Gomoa East Constituency, Hon Desmond De-Graft Paitoo speaking in an interview urged the government to make available working tools that can help protect officers of the Security Agencies towards having a sound mind to protect life and property.
