Black Stars defender Rashid Sumaila has heaped praise on Hearts of Oak for winning the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title.
The Phobians beat sworn rivals Asante Kotoko to clinch the domestic top-flight for the first time in 11-years under Samuel Boadu.
Boadu, who joined the Phobians before the start of the second half of the season made history by leading the club to annex their first title since 2009.
In an interview with Bryt Power Sports, the former Asante Kotoko defender indicated Hearts of Oak deserves to win the top-flight, saying they put up a splendid performance.
“Hearts of Oak deserves to win this year’s league because they have fought a good fight. Though Kotoko did well I believe Hearts were on top so they deserve it”
“At some point in time both teams were tied on points and that revived the competitiveness of the league. At the end of the season, the points gap were not so huge and it tells you how exciting the season was”
“I believe the season was great evens there was a solid competition in the relegation battle,” he said.
