A 70-year-old woman and her grandson have been knocked down to death by a speeding Sprinter Benz bus on Kasoa to Amanfrom stretch of the Accra – Kasoa Highway in the Central Region.
The deceased and her grandson were crossing the highway from Kasoa’s direction to the opposite side of the road after alighting from a Mankessim bound vehicle.
The bizarre accident angered the youth who smashed and vandalized the accident vehicle and nearly lynched the driver.
It took the intervention of the Member of Parliament for Gomoa East who saved the driver from the hands of these youths.
Speaking to Bryt FM News Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah, Member of Parliament for the Gomoa East Constituency Hon Desmond De-Graft Paitoo called on the government to provide streetlights on the Accra – Kasoa Highway to end this unfortunate incident of pedestrian knockdowns.
Meanwhile, some residents have called on the Minister of Roads and Highways to construct footbridges or speed ramps to save the lives of residents.
