President Akufo-Addo has been commended for his immense contribution to the development of the Agric sector since his assumption into office in 2017.
Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie Akoto was also hailed for leading the fight to revamp the sector with numerous policies.
Madam Mary Posch Oduro, National Treasurer hopeful of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) thinks many interventions by the government that is, mass spraying exercise, subsidized fertilizers, support to extension officers, and many others have contributed greatly to the success story.
She again emphasized the planting for food and job policy which has positively led to a bumper harvest of food crops as compared to some years back.
Assuring farmers over the weekend as part of the National Farmers Day Celebration, Madam Posch Oduro revealed that his father, Opanyin Job Kwadwo Saka, former Best Farmer in the Asante Akyem District and other farmers went through hell as farmers back then were not having the current support from the government as it is now despite their hard work.
She added that fishermen have not been left out as a ministry of Fisheries has been created to specifically deal with aquaculture and its challenges to have enough fish to feed the growing populace.
“Even though there is still much to be done in the coming years, I think President Akufo-Addo and his abled Agric minister deserve commendations for their efforts to the Agric sector.
She used the opportunity to encourage farmers to support the government in its numerous policies to ensure it benefits them for the success of their activities.
Farmers across the country were celebrated in all the Metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies where the best farmers were awarded for their immense contribution to the Agric sector.
