A robbery gang of about eleven members have attacked some illegal miners in Atiwa East in Eastern region..
On December 9, 2021 about 3:00pm Wisdom Gyata a victim who lives at Akyem Ankaase accompanied by Norta Ametoadzi went to Anyinam Police Station to report that,on same day about 11:20am while he and other Victims were washing their gold concentrate at their mining site between Adasawase and Akyem Mampong ,a robbery gang attacked them.
He mentioned that ,the robbers include some people they identified as Rasta, Kobby, Kwasi, Owura Joe and six others armed with pump action gun and cutlasses attacked and robbed them of their gold concentrate.
He said ,the robbers singled out one of the victims Obodo Anas and brutalized him but in the the course of the assault, Obodo Anas managed to escape but in the fell into a big a bandoned pit filled with water .
He said , all efforts to rescue him proved futile .
Police proceeded to the scene in the company of the Complainant where the pit in which Obodo Anas fell into was pointed out to the Police.
Divers comprising four men swam the length and breadth of the pit for almost one and half hours in search of Obodo Anas but the body could not be retrieved.
Anyinam police is however on manhunt for the suspects.
