Ahead of this year’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress have unveiled Manifesto Committee to produce a comprehensive Manifesto document.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Committee’s mandate includes undertaking a holistic review of the party’s 2016 Manifesto and to engage all relevant stakeholders on the subject with the view to coming out with the NPP’s 2020 Manifesto.
Meanwhile, the NDC committee has started engaging professional groups and relevant stakeholders in formulating a working document that will detail the expectations and areas Ghanaians would want the NDC government to focus on, to be called “Peoples Manifesto” that speaks to the direct needs and concerns of the citizenry.
The opposition’s 21-member election manifesto committee is chaired by a former Minister of Health under the Mills-led administration, Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo.
Members of the committee were drawn from various sectors, including academia, health, economy, and youth empowerment.
The NPP is seeking another four-year term in office manifesto committee for the 2020 general elections, with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia service as chair with nine others.
According to a statement issued by John Boadu, General Secretary of the NPP, The Committee, is constituted as follows: Alan Kwodwo Kyeremateng – Member, Matthew Opoku Prempeh – Member, Ken Offori-Atta – Member, Madam Elizabeth Ohene – Member, Hajia Alima Mahama – Member, Yofi Grant – Member, Yaw Buaben Asamoa – Member, Kweku Agyemang-Manu – Member, Dr. Afriyie Akoto – Member.
