Agona East constituency office of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP has elected into office the first-ever youngest female as Chairperson in its constituency election held last Tuesday.
Hannah Asamoah was a nominee for the District Chief Executive position for the Agona East district but was rejected by Assembly members.
She is, also, the immediate youngest past Youth Organiser of the party for the past four years.
Speaking to Bryt FM news correspondent, Eric Owusu Amponsah after the declaration by the Electoral Commission, Madam Hannah Asamoah emphasised the NPP can break the ‘8’ political mantra only if the youth are given the opportunity and brought on board hence, her decision to contest the Chairmanship position.
She added that her outfit will do its possible best to snatch the Agona East constituency seat from the incumbent National Democratic Congress lawmaker, Hon. Queenstar Pokuah Sawyer has failed to live up to the task.
She, however, called on all party supporters to bury their differences and come together to work hard to clinch victory in the 2024 general elections.
“People were expecting me to contest the position of a Women Organiser or a Secretary after the Youth Organiser job but I knew I could make a change and that encouraged me to contest the Chairmanship position” she revealed.
Madam Hannah Asamoah is a graduate of the University of Education, Winneba and has worked tirelessly for the party over the past years.
Some party supporters who spoke to the reporter indicated their happiness in the development and were optimistic Madam Asamoah’s election would go a long way to encourage more youth to join the NPP.
