The Upper Manya Krobo constituency in Eastern Region has marked the 30th-anniversary celebration of the largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with a massive clean-up exercise in the Akateng market center and the shores of the Volta River.
The clean-up exercise was led by the Member of Parliament for Upper Manya Krobo, Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, and participated by constituency and branch executives as well as supporters of the party.
Also present was a former District Chief Executive who was also a Deputy Minister Joseph Tetteh Angmor, some Regional officers including Basil Ahiabley and Bismark Tawiah Boateng, both Regional Chairman hopefuls, Richard Etornam Nyarko, Joshua Atta Mensah, both Regional Youth Organizer and Regional Organizer hopefuls respectively among others.
After the clean-up exercise, participants were addressed by various speakers who encouraged members of the party to take registration of membership processes which commences next week.
Members of the branch were admonished to be vigilant to block any attempt by the ruling New Patriotic Party, to sponsor moles to infiltrate various positions in the party.
Speaking to the media, the Member of Parliament, Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, said community service is what the NDC stands for hence the clean-up exercise.
He said the proximity of the Akateng market to the Volta River makes it imperative to be constantly cleaned to prevent pollution of the river.
As part of the celebration, we decided to come out to clean up the beach because that is the Hallmark of NDC, we are for community development that is what our founder used to do. We used to see him cleaning communities, and gutters, and working with the people. So today I decided to organize the people so that we clean the market as you are witnessing. so we have come out stronger”.
The MP urged supporters of the party to unite and work hard for the NDC to rescue the country from the shackles of economic mismanagement which has afflicted hardship on Ghanaians.
“So my admonishing to the people is to get united so that we fight the good course of NDC so we deliver this country from the wicked hands of the ruling government. Our people need us, I know the entire Ghanaian populace is looking up to us to deliver them from the work of this underdevelopment and hardship we are facing in the economy in Upper Manya”.
