Aggrieved residents of Sefwi Bekwai in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North region have revealed how reptiles have been hunting attacking them over the lack of toilet facility in the community.
Speaking to the media, some residents indicated that, the only toilet facility they had has been closed down, forcing residents to resort to defecating into polythene bags and later throwing them into the environment.
They affirmed several attempts to reach the Municipal Chief Executive, Alfred Amoah, for practicable results to their petition have felt on deaf ears.
They are, therefore, calling on the Non-Governmental Organizations and other cooperative bodies to come to their aid.
“We used to have one lavatory here, but it has been locked down because of inferior supervision. For the past two years, we share the bush with snakes. It’s an eyesore to visit a community like this. We need crucial scrutiny to our plea,” they noticed.
The Assembly member for Post office square electoral area, Hon. Eric Oduro, also emphasised the situation keeps worsened for them over the past three years without authorities helping them.
“I won’t apportion the blame on the Assembly because of the problems we had about the election of the presiding member. I will be glad if NGOs can party with the Assembly to build a BOT facility for us to ease our burdens,” he reiterated.
