Jumapo Development Fund (JDF) a fund set up by an association of residents of Koforidua -Jumapo both home and abroad, has established a medical Laboratory center at the Jumapo Health center after patients ditched the facility for lack of laboratory for medical tests.
The established laboratory comes with microscope slides, cover slips, malaria ROT, urine test strips, hepatitis B strips, pregnancy test strips, hepatitis C strips, HIV determine kits, DBTH cubes, examination gloves, cotton wool, ventilated spirit, pipettes, needles, typhoid test kits, centrifuge tubes, G6 PD, refrigerator among others.
According to the senior coordinator of Jumapo Development Fund (JDF), Mr. Maxwell Oppong, “over the past years since the inception of JDF, we have sponsored students to the university level through scholarship funds, the establishment of our community center, we invested in the first phase of the clinic, construction of mechanized borehole and today we have fully refurbished the laboratory in the clinic as well”.
He, therefore, urged the upcoming youth to emulate their example to ensure that there is continuity of the program to bring more development to Jumapo Township.
Nana Yaa Konadu Gyesaw who is the New Juaben North Municipal Health Director also recounted how the lack of a laboratory affected health care delivery as many clients ditched the health center for other facilities with a laboratory to run medical tests.
She is hopeful that the operationalization of the laboratory facility would help provide comprehensive healthcare to clients from the community.
Dr. Eric Osei Kwarteng who is the Chairman of Jumapo Development Fund- Abroad and also was the key contributor to the refurbishment of the laboratory said cognizant of the importance of laboratory in quality healthcare, was touched to support the establishment of the facility.
He encouraged residents of Jumapo to join the association to contribute to their widow’s mite to the development of the town.
The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben North, Comfort Asante commended Jumapo Development Fund for its relentless effort to support development in the community.
She said the assembly is in the process of getting a new contractor with the capacity to rehabilitate the Jumapo town roads.
Present at the ceremony was Jumapohene, some members of the clergy and the Muslim community as well as some residents of Jumapo.
