Former Western North Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Adu Agyei has emphasised that Ghana’s constitution does not forbid citizens from embarking on demonstration or protest .
He has, also, advised Ghanaians to respect the law and laid down procedures whenever they are given the green light to express their displeasure through demonstrations.
His comment comes following the “Arise Ghana” demonstration held on 28th and 29th July, 2022, which birthed a bone of contention between the police and demonstrators.
Mr. Adu Agyei boldly asserted that per what transpired, there is no doubt the group is one of the groups in the National Democratic Congress, “I am saying it without any fear or favour”.
He added that, if the demonstration was allowed to be stretch into the night, it could have led to instability as there are already cases of alleged coup plots against the government.
