According to Mr. Kwame Jantuah, a private attorney, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should address the nation’s concerns about the economy, not Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He claimed that President Akufo-Addo was chosen by Ghanaians to address their problems.
“This is the time that the president needs to speak to us, to bring us together and say we are going through this together,” he said on the New Day show on TV3 with Johnnie Hughes on Friday, July 15.
He was making remarks regarding the vice president’s speech on the economy and the reason the Akufo-Addo administration visited the IMF (IMF).
Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence that Ghana would emerge from the IMF program under Akufo-Addo stronger than it had from the previous seventeen programs that former Ghanaian administrations had participated in.
To reap the full benefits of this approach, he added, would take a lot of effort and difficult choices.
Dr. Bawumia provided evidence to support his decision to approach the IMF, pointing out that Ghana’s economy has been hurt by the Covid-19 and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
