The Odumase Krobo Police in the Eastern region is pursuing suspects connected to the deadly arson attack on a physically challenged.
A 60-year-old physically-challenged man and resident of Agomanya-Ablotsi in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal of the Eastern Region was on Sunday, September 11, 2022, murdered and set on fire by unknown assailants.
The victim, Osanyongmor Thomas Teye was suspected to have been struck in the head with an object before being set on fire whilst sleeping in a makeshift structure on family land where building materials are being kept and concrete blocks molded to construct a house for him.
Crime scene investigators from the Ghana Police Service visited the scene and have since retrieved and deposited the charred body at the Atua Government Hospital morgue.
Assembly member for Yohe Electoral Area, Anyeenorgu Joseph Kwame Acheampong told the media he led the family to cooperate with the police for further investigation.
The cause of the attack is not known.
The family has denied any dispute on the piece of land earmarked for building a house for the victim.
They say the deceased relocated from a room to stay in the makeshift structure which served as a storeroom for the construction materials, four years ago to guard the items.
The charred body has been deposited at the Atua Government Hospital morgue.
